Ce que peut le lion
Olivier Pagani
2011 - 22 min - DVC Pro - Couleur - France, Belgique

What the lion can do? This is not enough, the father said. He is the one who wants to become a child at the same time as his son... This film is a documentary tale about the state of childhood. A granfather, a father and a son are visiting the zoo. Three characters, three life stages, each having his own way of relating to childhood.
The grandfather now in his early sixties remembers being a stranger as a child. The son, who is only a year and a half, is a child without knowing it. Unlike the grandfather, the father has no childhood memories. While searching for an origin, a horizon, his mind wanders back and forth between his father’s childhood and that of his son. It is the horizon of a common state of being he is looking for. But, among the animals, this quest soon turns itself into a tale of metamorphoses.
