In the area of Combrailles the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy had unexpected consequences. Forced to limit the production of wheat, five cereal-growers decided to react in an original way. In order to keep the same income with lower tonnage, they decided to work towards a quality production. That is how the association "Blé qualité Combrailles" was born.
The founders of the association met the millers and the bakers of the region in order to include them in their adventure. "Pays de Combrailles bread", which is a trade mark registered at the Institut national de propriété industrielle, was born.
By setting up a chain of quality, the five farmers were able to increase the value of their production which keeps growing and to sell it for 20 % more...
