An Air of Revolt
Franck Salin
2013 - 88 min - Couleur - France

Music was often closely linked to social riots in Guadeloupe. From January 20th till March 4th 2009, there was a 44 days long general strike on the island, an intense protest movement: an air returned ceaselessly, "Guadeloupe belongs to us, it does not belong to them".
It aroused a strong debate: some people heard a shout of revolt, whereas others perceived it as a racist song.
