San Siro
Yuri Ancarani
2014 - 26 min - Couleur - Italie

In 2013, the RIDM presented a trilogy of shorts by Yuri Ancarani. The third in the series, "Da Vinci", won the festival’s award for best international short film. Anyone who was delighted to discover the Italian filmmaker can expect to be thrilled, and the uninitiated are in for a treat: San Siro is an epic, singular and wryly humorous look at Milan’s legendary football stadium, a fitting subject in a World Cup year. We learn all about Italy’s biggest stadium – with the notable exception of football. Without pausing to decode their activities, Ancarani follows the exacting choreography of the facility’s many behind-the-scenes workers, and brilliantly captures – through the simple interplay of sounds, shapes and lights – the overwhelming excitement of a major sporting event. A pure pleasure.
