The birth of "Playtime", the film-maker’s most ambitious project, told thanks to previously unpublished film documents.
Based on an unedited film shot by Tati’s operators (and mysteriously entitled "Avantati"), recently discovered archives, rehearsals and trial runs at special effects, this diary of a film shoot gives us a precise idea of the film-maker’s working methods.
"Playtime story" recreates the creative process of an adventure which lasted three years and ruined its author, and shows Jacques Tati’s amazing energy and his concern for inaccessible perfection.
