A larger room with decrepit walls. A long close-up of the face of a man in his fifties: “They shoved ma aside. They killed her. Just like that.” He is talking about the murder of his mother when he was nine years old. Since then, when he is sad, he hums entire operas. Once he has finished his story, he stands up and exits the frame. In another shabby room, the tremolos of an Italian tenor fill the air. Next to the gramophone an old man beats the measure with his hand. The links that bind the two characters gradually appear without becoming explicit.
