2002 - 113 min - Super 16 mm - Couleur - France

Any autobiography is the account of another life : the past is above all, the property of our obsessive fears, and our stories are the succession of hallucinations which we strive to resemble. Mimi is no exception to this rule : from her painful childhood memories right up to the closing rock'n'roll number, she revolves around herself in search of something to lean on which would enable her to coincide with what a character she came across on her walks in search of memory calls "his great power of escape". So, what does Claire Simon film ? A "real tale" or a "documentary movie" she says : the cinematographic possibility to serve, through her character, the potential of a cinema without film stock. Not so much to exorcise her demons as to reconcile herself with them in the space of the fable, or the landscape. (Jean-Pierre Rehm)
"Mimi is not a star, she is someone. She tells the story of life right in the middle of the world, where she made herself the heroin of her own legend." (Claire Simon)
