La Tanière
( The Den )

Alain Della Negra, Kaori Kinoshita
2008 - 29 min - HDV - Couleur - France

"A long, long time ago animals alone ruled over the entire world. Times have changed. Now, humanity has taken the reins of the planet. Some folks, however, seem to regret this. These people, or at least some of them, have chosen to dress
up as cats, weasels, tigers, rabbits or other species in this exclusively furry menagerie. They indulge in their penchant at peaceful parties, read specialist magazines, go to special clubs, in short make up a little community in the U.S.
– The Furries – without adveritising themselves or being outrageous. Far from zoologist, one curious visitor, half-attracted, half-perplexed, the directors’ obvious ambassador invites us to enter into this den whose inhabitants appear to be just as talkative as the animals in La Fontaine. The moral of the fable? There are doubtless many one could glean here and there in the course of the ramblings of our specimens: morals on the question of the delirium of identity; the dumbing down of the myth of the origins; and the power of the imagination might it only be the promise of a cuddly toy?"
