Guatemala. In Choquiac, a village in the high tablelands, a Maya community is mobilizing under the leadership of a "passionara" to get its school stay alive. The school is free of charge. The teaching takes into account the cultural realities of the maya community.
Following the December 1996 peace treaty that put an end to 36 years of civilian war, the government eventually admits the work accomplished by this community and takes over the school's destiny. But will it hold its promises in the future ?
