A.M./P.M.
Herman Asselberghs
2004 - 45 min - Mini DV - Couleur - Belgique

Here is the image: the camera slowly studies modern urban panoramas, notes details, approaches and moves away from skyscrapers and apartments.
There is sound: a woman’s off-screen voice relates her personal experience of recent world history (September 11, the Iraq War), a fictional account based on impressions gleaned by the filmmaker during a trip to the Middle East.
"A.M./P.M." plays on physical and mental distances that separate a western consciousness from the Israel-Palestine conflict. Opposing reportage and intimate confession, Herman Hasselberghs attempts another approach to current affairs through the slow unfolding of a fiction of thought.
