Victor Serge, the Insurgent
Carmen Castillo
2011 - 52 min - HDCam - Couleur et Noir & Blanc - France

Victor Serge was born in Brussels in 1890, a child of Russian anarchists. Involved from an early age in revolutionary struggles in Europe and Russia, he later opposed Stalin and even Trotsky. A dissident of all dissidences, Serge was hunted and exiled. He wrote a great body of literary work in French until his death in Mexico in 1947. Moving between past and present, between a personal account and an in-depth chronicle, this film presents Victor Serge as a “critical contemporary”, a voice for our time.
