Before being the biologist well-known to everyone, Pasteur was a chemist and a crystallographer. From his scientific studies he developed a technical and utilitarian conception of science, that earned him his title of benefactor of humanity. The post offices of every country paid tribute to him by issuing new stamps with his picture.
The film is made up of an iconography of postage stamps and two interviews : Jean Gayon, historian of science and Jean-Marie Lehn, chemist, Nobel prize 1987.
