Nestor Makhno, paysan d'Ukraine
Hélène Châtelain
1996 - 60 min - Vidéo - Couleur - France

Revolutionary farmer, organiser of the proletarian emancipation, the Russian anarchist Nestor Makhno is at the origin of the Ukrainian libertarian revolution, puted down into blood. Hélène Châtelain has unearth the texts, photographies and documents that stand out as landmarks in Nestor Makhno's astonishing life, who ended his life in Paris in a hotel near by the East railway station.
From this epic, remains texts sleeping in libraries. Memories of Nestor Makhno the anarchist-Communist, or as as the official history and the films testifying of his existence describe him, the "psychopat-anarchist-bandit-antisemite". A harm to destroy, not an enemy to fight.
It is the story of the return of these texts in Goulaipolie (and the echo they find there today, beyond the "diabolisation" that strucked during 70 years the makhnovist's movement), that makes the woof of this documentary.
