Little Go Girls
Éliane de Latour
2015 - 78 min - HD - Couleur - France

The Go use their bodies like a cash till in the ghettos of Abidjan, in the hope of gaining a bit of independence. They flee family violence, living in hiding and in shame One by one, I film these outcasts in their ghetto. From detail and silence emerges a part of themselves that breaks with the prejudices that stigmatise them. The cinematographic response favours the choreography of the characters' bodies and the unpredictable, without dialogue. One breaks away from a narrative focused on the individual and focuses instead on their collective condition.
In a second narrative, they try, together, to leave their exile, and when they manage to get their heads above water, they inflict the same treatment they suffered on other young illiterate girls. The girls are elements of a mosaic, which together, form a collective pattern and destiny.
