Symbolic figures in a national tale or "barbaric" heroes of an exotic legend, the horsemen of buzkashi, the traditional game of Northern minorities, enjoyed a time of fame in pre-war Afghanistan.
In the Spring of 2005, a time of fragile peace, I left on a journey to find the old champions of this golden age. Both contemplative and questioning, the film travels through the small world of today’s buzkashi as a site of memories and imaginaries, where words speak also of present disillusions. And of the unexpected effects of the encounter between two worlds.
