La Fin du voyage
François Amadeï
2003 - 48 min - 16 mm - Couleur - France

On the outskirts of Martigues in the Bouches-du-Rhône region, in the late 1950s, a gipsy community stopped in an old quarry and never left again. Since then, two generations have followed and have held on to their lifestyle in caravans.
Recently, in the middle of the camp, an estate of little houses has sprung up. This constructed accommodation will "replace" their caravans soon.
Thanks to the complicity of "la Mousson", the main character, we follow these gipsies in the last instants of their singular life.
The film witnesses to a turning point ; it raises the problem of the adoption of a sedentary life and the integration of nomad populations into our society while it reveals in these gipsies a great humanity, thwarted by years of prejudice from their neighbours.
