Utopie du désastre
( Maison pour tous de Rikuzentakata )

2013 - 26 min - HD - Couleur - France

Following the March 2011 tsunami in Japan, a group of architects led by Toyo Ito, the Japanese architect who received the 2013 Pritzker Prize, launched the Homes for All project to build collective dwellings for people living in the devastated cities.
Three young architects, Sou Fujimoto, Kumiko Inui and Akihisa Hirata, built one of these Homes for All in Rikuzentaka, a town that was virtually wiped out. Using damaged trees from the forest, they created a house with a peaked roof pierced by 19 tree trunks. Designed in six months and built in five, the house received the Golden Lion award at the 2012 Venice Biennale.
