At 3,550 meter altitude, in the community of Andamarca in south mountains of Perù, the water is managed in a collective way by the inhabitants. When the State decides to rationalize his management with models of market production, the doubt scattered in the village.
Some, attracted by the improvement that could represent a “more rational" management of the water and criticizing the traditional imperfection of the system, try to broke the traditional system. The question is : can the economic efficacity illusion collapse a local rationality based on an ancestral management with social, cultural, ecologic and politic meanings.
So, in this microsociety, water management became the stake of a struggle for preserve a way of life and autonomy…
