Kim Ki-duk, cinéaste de la beauté convulsive
Antoine Coppola
2007 - 62 min - Beta digital - Couleur et Noir & Blanc - France

At the North/South Korean border is an artists' village with experimental eco-houses that stand defiantly free and green opposite the barbed wire of the two Koreas. This is the home of Kim Ki-duk. Kim Ki-duk is a world-rank, award winning filmmaker.
Yet he is not well regarded in his own country and has never had the opportunity to discuss his art at length. After having spent much time with him, Antoine Coppola decided to film the man who is the very symbol of independent cinema in Asia. Looking back on his work, Kim Ki-duk shares his notions on film, his directorial manner, his attitude toward being an independent director, perhaps the only director in Korea to achieve international recognition.
