"Generation Genova" is the portrait of a new generation of activists.
It tells the story of 5 five young people confronted to political repression and police brutality during the G8 counter-summit that took place under the presidency of Silvio Berlusconi in July 2001 in Genova.
How has this event changed their beliefs in antiglobalisation ? What is left of the memories of street battles with police, of prison and sometimes-even torture ? How did the tactics and strategies of protest change since these dreadful days ?
Amongst the recent history of the antiglobalisation protest, after Seattle, Washington, Davos, Prague and eventually Porto Alegre, the bloodshed of Genova where 23 year old Carlo Giuliani was shot dead by an Italian carabinieri remains a very crucial time : the thesis of this documentary is that, like May 68 in France or the anti-Vietnam demonstrations in the United States for baby-boomers, the Genova Generation has forged a new way of looking at politics.
