Old man Lindén lives alone on his home island, but each day he makes a phone call to his wife to a nursing home. The old couple’s affection transmits across a bay over phone lines. While always sticking to his curious sense of humour, the old man spends his days in the midst of nature, writing a book for the family in which he records maintenance directions for the house and the grounds for the next generation, carving a wooden casket and listening to his rare recordings of some of the treasures of Jazz.
