The administration of the Belgian Congo decides to fight the damage caused by leprosy. Their idea: gather the infected in villages in order to limit the risks of contagion. The film follows daily life in an agricultural colony for lepers. In spite of their stumps, the lepers carry out their daily tasks. Nuns provide medical care and missionaries disseminate their religious message among the colony. The commentary of the film concludes on an optimistic note: the difficulties encountered do not tarnish the general atmosphere and the joy to be alive is truly present.
