This film responds to the magnificent series of André S. Labarthe and Janine Bazin’s, "Cinéastes de notre temps". Our series pay homage to known and unknown filmmakers, who took part, with rifles, cameras or both, in social struggles for freedom during the 20th century, as well as to those who nowadays keep on fighting against dictatorial systems. Daring and often heroic authors, portraying stances of pertinence and courage, where cinema meets collective history, these filmmakers struggling for liberation and often following a romantic destiny, frequently faced censorship, prison, and death, and nowadays sink into oblivion.
