Franco’s career as seen through the archives of other countries. Patino made no pretence of reconstituting all the facts, nor even of following a chronological order, but simply traced the most notable events and particularly those that explain his rise to power during the fratricidal war. Beyond these political and historical aspects, the film questions the hypothetical objectivity of archive material and its ambiguity.
