Jørgen Leth
- Danemark - Couleur - 42'
Landscapes, cities, people, motels, diners, highways… A cactus, a refrigerator, the flag, the Stars and Stripes… A bartender skillfully mixes a Dry Martini, a Bloody Mary and then a Whiskey Sour… New York cab drivers, a pair of lawyers, a seven-year-old schoolgirl … A familiar face, Andy Warhol, munching on a burger… Jørgen Leth’s first film about the US embraces big and small. The film is a collection of images from a country that in many ways is enigmatic and opaque to outsiders, yet one that we still have to mirror our own culture.
