The "auto-école" of Saint-Denis is an experimental school of the Department of Education.
Every year, it takes in students at adds with the traditional education system. These teenagers are from 13 to 17 years old. They have to choose to be there.
The film shows an immersion in the life of the school during one year. Throughout some of the everyday life scenes, it runs through what makes the very core of the "auto-école".
However, it is not a film on the "auto-école".
Thanks to a different viewpoint on this micro-society – which nevertheless represents in itself what life is – , "Controlled Skid" is in turns a film about the way the teachers struggle, a film about failure, a film about hope.
