Rowing Baghdad
Véronique Mauduy, Anne-Sophie Le Mauff
2012 - 52 min - HD - Couleur - France

The incredible story of three young Iraqi rowers coming from different backgrounds and sharing an impossible dream: the qualification for the London Olympics Games.
Everything seems to be against them.Terrorist attacks, insecure living and training conditions, unemployment, endemic corruption, sportive hierarchy guided by selfish political and financial interests as well as the Americans who may use them for other global interests... Despite all, they keep on fighting.
Beyond sport, the film is a unique and intimate portrayal of the Iraqi youth as they desperately try to survive and rebuild their country, after eight years of chaos.
Between cheap shot, drama, hope, twists and turns, it's a warm and human tale leading us to wider political, economic, religious and social issues in a country caught in crossfire.
