Ivan is eleven years old. He is the first tenor of the youngest brass band in Yugoslavia.
Through him we discover the "Mahala", the Tzigane district of a small village in the south of Serbia. A district which resounds at any hour with the sounds of its three brass band.
For Ivan and his young musician friends, that which counts before anything else is to imitate the uncles, the cousins and the grandfathers : to play the drums and the trumpet ! All year long, they add rhythm to their marriages, their baptisms, and their funeral orations...
It is August and in a few days the festival of the brass bands will take place in Guca...
