Afrique du Sud : Zoulou blanc, blanc zoulou Série-Collection : Contrechamp humanitaire

1996 - 26 min - Betacam SP - Couleur - France

Sibongile Zungu is a woman doctor. She lives as a member of the middle-class, as do the few coloured people who have managed to attain the living standards of the Whites. She also represents Zulu tradition : on her husband's death she fought to take back the role of tribal chieftain.
Louis-John Havemann is the owner of a hunting reserve. His grand-parents and his parents were killed by the Blacks but Louis-John has "no hate". Sigonbile wants to reconcile her people, Louis-John knows and respects the Zulus who call him "The White Zulu" because he has known so well how to integrate and combine his interests with those of the regional chiefs.
With the one and the other and alongside the two other traditional chieftains who intervene in counterpoint we come, little by little, to understand the Zulu soul and we enter into the world of contradictions where tensions arise today between the black communities.
