Cain and Abel
Raphaëlle Paupert-Borne, Jean-François Neplaz
2018 - 86 min - Film 16 mm & vidéo Full HD - Couleur - France

An investigation into the myth of Cain and Abel, the first murder in the bible.
Here it is explored as a game, resonating through lived situations and unfolding amongst the inhabitants, livestock breeders and farmers, who people the birthplace of the film’s director, Raphaëlle Paupert-Borne.
It is also a film about her painting. The visible world is sensual and, as seen through the textures of sheepskin, animal. The fog of the mountains is a breath, an exhalation echoed in the paintings. The film speaks of the circulation of air and light between the painter, the mountain, the camera and us. It is intimacy on the scale of glaciers and the smell of earth.
