This is about the brutal History of colonization in Central Africa by King Leopold II of Belgium. At that time, this part of Africa was transformed into a huge work camp, where millions died.
In the film Pete Bate, the director of the British Museum, first tells how, at the end of the 19th century, a clutch of photographs triggered a scandal when they were published.
The pictures showed mutilated African children: their hands and feet had been cut off. Missionaries had taken these photographs in Congo, showing what kind of atrocious deeds had been committed...
