L'Empreinte du sensible
Sylvia Ghibaudo, Marc Lawton
2002 - 76 min - Betacam & DV Cam - Couleur et Noir & Blanc - France
Dancer and choreographer from Germany, Karin Waehner (1926-1999) was one of the pioneers of contemporary French dance. Trained by Mary Wigman and the "Ausdrückstanz", nurtured by the structured techniques of the American masters (Martha Graham and José Limon), she based her practice on notions that are essential for dancers : interior need and attention to simple gestures, while never forgetting the danger of virtuosity and the importance of workshop work.
This film, which traces the many roads she has travelled along as a choreographer and teacher, takes a wider interest in the development of contemporary dance in France since the 1950s.
