These women are psychiatrists, nurses or ergotherapists at the Baumettes jail in Marseilles, and they take care of prisoners, who for the duration of the treatment are mere patients. All of them are there to help men in pain, regardless of their imprisonment. Being there means joining this unique space – that of listening – an air pocket behind prison walls. Whether this is maintained or not, depends on the medical staff’s determination to go on practicing psychiatry there… At which cost? Sophie has worked there for ten years and is now questioning her own position in the prison, how it is possible for her to fulfill her job as a psychiatrist, as it turns out to be genuine resistance. She gathers the memories of these locked-up years to make a decision: going on being there, or quitting?
