About 6 500 years ago, on the Atlantic coast, our Neolithic ancestors buried some of their dead inside imposing monuments which were later called tumulus.
Twelve years ago, the archaeologists Roger Joussaume, Luc Laporte et Chris Scarre decided to excavate in an exhaustive way one of these tumulus: Péré.
From summer 2002 until summer 2005, Pierre Bonneau filmed them working, and more precisely, progressing in the discovery of this funeral room which was kept inviolate since its use. What luck for archaeologists as a dolmen under tumulus hasn’t been found in such conditions since more than 150 years!
The documentary makes us live the adventure of this team and the development of this methodical dig which will be a remarkable event in the knowledge we have of the funeral rituals of Neolithic.
