Iran, a country where my roots exist only in the imagination – this is the first time I will be going there. I will bring back a Persian rug for my daughter Assia, two years old, who inherited my Iranian nationality and multiple identities.
I will be making a road movie. I will look for the carpet and follow the many leads and digressions that present themselves to me. These will give me the opportunity to depict the major transformations Iranian society has undergone after twenty years as an Islamic Republic.
Throughout the journey, the film shows the different faces of a country that is seeking the means to surpass its Islamic experience.
