In the course of the summer and fall of 1993, the French sculptor Françoise Jolivet built by hand a series of totems up to nine meters high on a wind-swept plain east of Paris, in sight of the Euro Disney Park.
The film documents the development of the work as the artist talks about her spatial conception, her relationship to the basic construction material - a uniquely malleable cement - and the impact of these totem-like "birds" on the elementary school close by.
