Deux de la Vagueis the story of a friendship, the one of Jean-Luc Godard and François Truffaut who met because of their love for
cinema. When François Truffaut became a director with "The 400 Blows", that was given a triumphal reception in Cannes in 1959, he helped Jean-Luc Godard to become a director by offering him a script of his own, already entitled Breathless. Throughout the sixties, they stuck together. History and politics separated them in 68 and later.
Based on available archival footage and selected sequences, the film retraces the emerging, the impact and the still tangible influence of the "Nouvelle Vague" on cinema throughout the world; and suggests we should rediscover the aesthetic wealth of these timeless films.
