Capteur de rêves
Paule Muxel
1998 - 52 min - Beta numérique - Couleur - France

A North American legend says that when the dream catcher is hung up in a room, it attracts the dreams that are present. This amulet used to be suspended over babies' cribs to protect them from illness and evil spirits. The good dreams slip through the opening in the net to the dreamer who can continue them upon awakening. The bad dreams remain imprisoned all night until the first light of dawn destroys them.
"Dream Catcher" shows us a child in Paris who, feeling bored, leafs through some books about Indians. Very soon, he falls asleep and, in a half-awake state, he begins to dream. Through the magical dream catcher, his dreams take us into the contemporary world of the North American Indians - the Algonkins, the Attikamekws, and the Innus... This poetic adventure reveals to us some of the American Indians' basic values.
