In a remote village in northeastern Sardinia, archaic traditions live on. A man, Batiledhu (the madman, the useless) is designated by the villagers as the victim of a mysterious ritual.
Amo, Batiledhu isolates himself in the heart of the mountains. Alone, in a hostile environment, he undertakes a journey that will allow him to face his fears and death. Disguised as a half-man, half-animal puppet, his flesh will be displayed in the village square, before being brought back to life in a rite of fertility and redemption.
