This saga in three episodes patiently draws up the inventory of an economic collapse. In Tiexi Qu, formerly a major industrial region in the north-east of China, industrial sites have been closing one after to waste away.
Filming during several years, the director monitored the everyday life of these people who, like the seriously-ill, suddenly have free time on their hands : resigned, foreign to a world that has abandoned them, alone, with no prospects for the future. We witness a slow, inevitable industrial collapse as much as the empty existence of its patent victims, to which the film offers a last asylum.
