Yenendi is the annual ceremony during which the Songhay of Simiri in Niger request rain for their crops from the Gods of the Sky. Jean Rouch offers us here the entire procedure of this ritual – the dances, possessions, including "what we should not see" – which will bring the clouds so longingly awaited for seven months. Storks, harbingers of rain, finally appear in the sky.
