“We’re more popular than Jesus.” John Lennon’s statement caused an uproar, but it was just another episode in the story of the tumultuous relations between rock’n’roll and religions. That story started with Elvis’s ungodly hip swing and is still going strong today with the revival of Christian rock music. This sixty-year story features deified singers, gurus, hippies, metal fans, punks, fundamentalist preachers and superstars who died much too young. 2018 Sacem Special Mention for Best Music Documentary Delivery of the Sacem awards by Laurent Ferlet (composer), followed by the screening of the films and a debate with the directors.
