Partis pour Croatan
Gaëlle Boucand
2010 - 59 min - Mini DV - Couleur - France

The story of an international group of friends reunited by Berlin’s electronic subculture. They gather for each weekend to live through dozens of hours of uninterrupted partying. Every one oftheir lives is suspended momentarily to survive an intense collective experience. At the heart of a never-ending party in which night never falls, the viewer begins to lose his sense of time.
Little by little, the film expands and the scene becomes a liberated enclave more and more separatedfrom the world that surrounds it; a singularizing way of "being together" appears within the community: This is what seems to be in question for our contemporary tribes. They are not concerned with the goalthat lays ahead, the economic, political, or social aims to achieve. They prefer "entering" the pleasure oftogetherness, "entering" the intensity of the moment, "entering" the joy of this world as it is. (MichelMaffesoli in "The time of the tribes: the decline of individualism in mass society", La Table Ronde, 2000)
