December 2012: answering his colleague Mitra Kadivar’s SOS, psychoanalyst Jacques-Alain Miller attempts through exchanges of e-mails to free her from a psychiatric hospital in Tehran.
Based on this gripping correspondence, the film gives an account of Mitra’s struggle to be heard, and offers an operatic interpretation. This creative work is fuelled by the work carried out by patients in a French psychiatric centre, making Mitra the tragic heroine of a documentary film-opera.
