The year 1913 : the birth of the "Rite of Spring" at the théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris. Music by Igor Stravinsky, ballet by Vaslav Nijinsky. Since this date, the fascination for this work , considered as the symbol of modern times, is such that scores of choreographers have sought to create "their Rite of Spring". This film is a journey through several of the major versions of "The Rite of Spring".
Reconstitution of the version of 1913 by Millicent Hodson and Kenneth Archer, filmed at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées with Mademoiselle Pietragalla and 4 dancers from the Paris Opéra.
