2006 saw the beginnings of the construction, in the Cour Visconti, of the new Department of Islamic Art - the future backdrop for one of the world’s most beautiful collections, which brings together those of the Louvre Museum and those of the Museum of Decorative Arts. Travelling back in time, with as their guide, curator Sophie Makariou, Director of the department and an expert on Islam, viewers are plunged into the heart of the various issues thrown up by the project. Viewers follow the team, and are privy to its members’ questionings, doubts and difficulties in managing this unique enterprise.
