Journal de France
Claudine Nougaret, Raymond Depardon
2012 - 100 min - Couleur - France

Raymond Depardon’s latest film, co-directed by his long-time spouse and collaborator Claudine Nougaret, is a unique work in the famous documentarist’s filmography. This time out, Depardon is not so much in charge as he is the subject of a film that documents his current work as a photographer and looks back on his filmmaking career. Using personal archival footage, Nougaret revisits her partner’s artistic path through previously unseen footage from many of his films. In the process, she sheds new light on his work for those who are familiar with it, and tells the uninitiated about the fascinating career of an artist who ceaselessly questions the relevance and accuracy of his perspective.
