Six hundred Eskimos still live at Thule in the far north of Greenland. When the American air base was built, they were moved to the town of K’anak, built by the Danish government. Their way of life was badly affected in 1968 when an accident involving an American plane carrying four H-bomb led to a ban on hunting and fishing, activities on which the Eskimos, a people already nearing extinction, rely.
