A vitriolic accusation, Pro Patria is a teeming montage film serving a powerful and rebellious pacifism. The images of war, of dismembered corpses are opposed to the ceremonies, monuments and celebrations that exorcise. Sára desperately questions his images, searching for some trace of humanity behind the dehumanising mechanics of History seen as a slaughter: statues idealising the broken bodies, photos of soldiers with their eyes struck with horror, their mechanical gestures recalling a film by Borowczyk, School. A documentary against all wars.
