Denise Tual, Michel Fano
1972 - France - 80'
This film is more than a documentary: the authors wanted to follow the traces of the artist all along his life as well as his different sources of inspiration. Two of his major activites are observed: his position as organist at the Trinité Church where sometimes he interpreted the classical repertory, sometimes he engaged in improvisations which were very popular among music enthusiasts; his courses at the Conservatory where a fascinating sequence shows us the master studying with his students the opening of Pelléas et Mélisande, as well as the influence of Debussy on modern musicians.
